Urban & Community Forestry Staff
Personnel includes a statewide coordinator and two regional urban forestry specialists.
The coordinator networks with numerous federal, state, municipal and private agencies to promote the conservation and management of Montana's urban and community forest resources. Additionally, the coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the program including grants administration, advisory council (MUCFA) recruitment and coordination; and coordinating professional training.
The regional urban forestry specialists assist communities with the development of sustainable urban forestry programs including forming tree committees and ordinances, coordinating volunteers and achieving Tree City USA status. The specialists also help develop tree inventories and urban forestry management plans, and conduct technical training for community staff and citizens including tree care, planting, project design, species selection and pruning workshops.
