Resource Advisory Committee
PURPOSE OF THE RAC
The purposes of the Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) to the Yellowstone River Conservation District Council (YRCDC) are as follows:
-
Provide local input and recommendations to the Council regarding the Army Corps of Engineers and other cumulative impact studies of the Yellowstone River.
-
Serve as advisor to the Council and provide an avenue of communication and cooperation between the various interests on the Yellowstone River.
-
Propose to the Council and evaluate strategies, studies and actions for improving the understanding, management and conservation of the river and its resources.
The RAC is composed of landowner, municipal, government, agency, and environmental interests, and advises and provides recommendations to the Council regarding the Corps Study. The RAC meets quarterly in Billings on the 3rd Thursday of the month with meeting times generally from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The YRCDC is seeking interested individuals to volunteer their time to serve on a resource advisory committee to provide input to the Council on the management and conservation of the Yellowstone River's natural resources.
The sixteen-member RAC consists of equal numbers of members representing commercial, conservation, and municipal concerns. These groups represent the Upper River, the Lower River, and At Large. We currently have several vacancies open to the public.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the RAC, please call Kelly Norwood at 406-247-4411 or at knorwood@mt.gov.
