[Forestry] Are there students in your organization or school who share an interest in the natural resources and environmental issues around them? Would they be interested in competing against other students to hone their natural resource knowledge? If so, the MONTANA ENVIROTHON PROGRAM is just what you're looking for! This program will provide students, teachers and leaders with an enjoyable and challenging arena to pursue their environmental education.
The MONTANA ENVIROTHON PROGRAM can assist in helping high-school age students learn more about resources in five different areas: Soils, Aquatics, Forestry, Wildlife, and a Current Environmental Issue. This program, sponsored by the Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) and cooperating agencies, offers hands-on instruction and problem solving to environmentally concerned students and motivates them to further their knowledge and skills through local, state and national competition. [Environment]
[Soils] Five-member teams may be formed with individuals from Montana high schools, 4-H clubs, Vo-Ag clubs, or other similar organizations. Each team may also have one alternate in case someone is unable to take part in the competition. These teams will compete locally (and regionally), when necessary, with winning teams advancing to state competition, which is an outdoor event that will be held in early April. Team members must all be students from the same school or organization, currently enrolled in grades 9-12 during the current school year, and be sponsored by the local conservation district.

The winning Montana State Envirothon team will represent Montana at the Canon Envirothon competition, traditionally held during the first week of August, and in a different state each year!
