VISION 2005

A pivot brings water to Montana crops

Irrigation in Montana

The Vision 2005 Task Force, organized by the Montana Department of Agriculture, set a goal to double the value of agriculture in Montana by the year 2005. One component was to develop 500,000 acres of new irrigation projects. The 1999 Legislation established the Irrigation Development Program to accomplish this goal. Pat Riley was hired in February of 2000 to lead the effort. They provide assistance with new irrigation and help to find ways to increase the value of existing irrigation. State programs designed to assist with irrigation projects are detailed on this site.
