Grazing Rate Study
At the May 16, 2011, Land Board meeting, Dr. John Duffield of Bioeconomics Inc., presented information to the Land Board from his recently completed report "Montana Trust Land Grazing Lease Rate Valuation Analysis". This work updates the 1993 report titled "Economic Analysis of the Values of Surface Uses of State Lands – Task 3 Fair Market Value for Grazing Leases". The Land Board considered the information to determine if the multiplier used to set the annual grazing rate on state trust lands should be updated. The multiplier was last adjusted in 2001. The comment period on the study closed on June 17.
